Intro

Warm greetings! I am a values-driven Licensed Professional Counselor/Licensed Mental Health Clinician (VA, NC, TX, WA, MN, & CO) with 20 years of training and clinical experience. I am seated in The Woodlands, TX, and am from Northern Virginia. I practice using a multi-modal approach which is expressed through Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Solution-Focused Narrative and Brief Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Emotional Awareness and Expression Therapy, and Nature-Based Interventions, along with other person-focused interventions.

What motivated you to specialize in working with autistic adults?

I am pleased to join this therapeutic community that believes that diverse brains and behaviors are not the problem, they are expressions of diversity and individuality! I have worked and lived with neurodivergent individuals throughout my life and look forward to all that each client brings to the therapeutic relationship.

How do you bring a strengths-based, affirming approach to your client work?

I am neurodivergent and LGBTQIA++ affirming and deeply connect with the grief and loss caused by being considered "different" or "other". My style is greatly influenced by Dr. Robert S. Hartman, who believed that "we are good if we are who we are and identify ourselves as ourselves". I deeply encourage my clients "to develop awareness of who they are and in doing so, become more sincere, honest, genuine, true... and authentic." Therapy begins with developing awareness, interrupting autopilot, identifying the problem, and creating a solution that involves personal growth. This is brave space!
