Intro

Welcome!I'm so glad you're taking this step towards prioritizing your well-being. My name is Barb, and I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Colorado. I hold degrees in clinical psychology and forensic science, and I've spent the past several years working as a crisis clinician and providing domestic violence treatment.I specialize in working with adults experiencing anxiety, depression, and trauma, and I also have experience helping individuals navigate relationship challenges. My approach is primarily grounded in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and I incorporate mindfulness techniques to help clients develop coping skills and build resilience.I believe everyone deserves a safe space to explore their thoughts and feelings, and I strive to offer a supportive and non-judgmental environment where you can do just that. My goal is to empower you to find your own inner strength and resilience.

What motivated you to specialize in working with autistic adults?

I've been drawn to working with autistic and neurodivergent individuals, particularly those navigating social communication challenges, because I see a need for greater understanding and acceptance in our society. I'm committed to fostering communication, empathy, and mutual respect between neurotypical and neurodivergent individuals. My goal is to empower clients to embrace their neuroidentity, develop their strengths, and advocate for their needs. I strive to create a therapeutic space where they feel heard, respected, and supported in achieving their goals. I see my role as a partner in their journey, helping them build confidence, navigate challenges, and create a life that aligns with their values.

How do you bring a strengths-based, affirming approach to your client work?

I understand that autism and neurodiversity are spectrums, and each individual's experience is unique. My approach is highly individualized, focusing on understanding each client's specific strengths, interests, and needs. We work together to develop personalized strategies that build upon their existing skills and help them achieve their goals. I believe that focusing on strengths is not just about improving well-being; it's about empowering clients to embrace their authentic selves and live fulfilling lives. I am committed to providing compassionate, affirming care that celebrates neurodiversity and supports clients in realizing their full potential.
