Intro

Hi there! My name is Dr. Candice Saketkoo. I am a Clinical Psychologist and Clinical Neuropsychologist licensed to practice in Florida, New York, and Vermont. I also hold an Authority to Practice Interjurisdictional Telepsychology under PSYPACT, which allows me to conduct telepsychology services in over 40 states. With an emphasis on incorporating multiculturalism and diversity into clinical psychology and clinical neuropsychology, I have over 34 years of clinical experience, and have worked in various trauma, medical, surgical, and psychiatric settings.Possessing both a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) and a Doctor of Psychology (Psy.D.), I specialize in adult and geriatric clinical psychology, neuropsychology, behavioral medicine, rehabilitation psychology, and health psychology. Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Accessibility (IDEA) is fundamental to my practice as I work with individuals to identify their strengths and utilize culturally sensitive techniques to empower them to incorporate those strengths into effective coping skills while maintaining a safe, respectful, and nonjudgmental space for them.

What motivated you to specialize in working with autistic adults?

My motivation to work with adults with autism and neurodivergence is deeply rooted in my personal and professional passion for inclusion,  diversity, equity, and accessibility. Such work fosters empathy, creativity, and a greater appreciation for diverse ways of thinking. It also offers the opportunity to break down societal barriers, embrace unique perspectives, and cultivate inclusive environments where everyone can thrive. The joy of witnessing someone flourish when given the appropriate support and understanding is unparalleled, reinforcing the idea that different minds contribute uniquely valuable insights into the world. It’s about learning as much as it is about teaching—adapting culturally sensitive approaches, celebrating strengths, and recognizing the brilliance that comes from neurodiversity. The connection formed through patience, encouragement, and genuine care makes this work not just meaningful, but profoundly fulfilling.

How do you bring a strengths-based, affirming approach to your client work?

I work with individuals to foster a sense of self-worth and resilience by highlighting what they do well rather than only addressing challenges. Every neurodivergent individual has inherent strengths that deserve to be recognized, cultivated, and celebrated. I work with individuals to identify what makes them unique—their problem-solving abilities, creativity, deep interests, and resilience—and support them in effectively drawing upon those strengths to navigate the world with confidence and in a way that aligns with their own goals and aspirations. I strive to create a safe space where individuals feel truly seen, understood, and valued. Through culturally sensitive affirming and collaborative techniques, I work with individuals to enrich self-awareness, embrace abilities, and build the self-advocacy skills needed to thrive. Whether it is fostering independence, developing meaningful relationships, or achieving personal and professional milestones, all progress is celebrated and incorporated into future collaborative work to reinforce a positive self-concept and foster long-term success, ensuring individuals feel empowered rather than limited by their differences.
