Hello! My name is Dr. Courtney Russell, but you can call me Courtney. I am a queer and neurodivergent psychologist who specializes in working with high-masking autistic adults. I am licensed in Colorado and am a PSYPACT member, meaning I can see clients from multiple states. I have extensive experience working in clinical, school, and research settings. I am delighted to meet you!
Part of my motivation for working with autistic adults is my own experience as a neurodivergent person. It’s not uncommon for neurodivergent folks to feel misunderstood or overlooked because internal challenges don’t match outward expectations. Unfortunately, many individuals have also experienced medical gaslighting and trauma, making it even harder to trust the system and feel truly seen. I am passionate about creating a space where clients feel safe and understood—where they can unmask, explore their authentic selves, and build a fulfilling life.
My goal is to help clients see themselves through a more compassionate and empowering lens. I emphasize a strong relationship rooted in unconditional positive regard. So often, autistic individuals are told what’s “wrong” with them—I focus on what’s right. I highlight my clients’ strengths and use a collaborative approach, working with clients to identify what they need from the assessment process to feel supported. I work to help folks find strategies that work with their neurodivergence, not against it.
