Intro

Hi! I’m Daphne (she/her/hers), a licensed clinical psychologist in Chicago with nearly 30 years of experience in neurodiversity-affirming work. My journey has taken me from classrooms to clinics, where I’ve conducted psychological assessments and tailored learning strategies to individual needs. I’ve worked in a variety of capacities—teacher, university lecturer, executive functioning coach, school administrator, and clinic supervisor—all with a focus on empowering individuals. I’m committed to helping people cultivate self-awareness, resilience, and self-advocacy. Through a client-centered approach, I support individuals in charting their own paths toward success in both education and life.

What motivated you to specialize in working with autistic adults?

From early in my career, I was drawn to working with neurodivergent individuals because I saw how often their strengths were overlooked and their needs misunderstood. My experiences as a teacher, learning specialist, and psychologist have shown me the power of individualized support in helping neurodivergent students and adults thrive.Working directly with individuals with autism across their lifespan—from children in schools to college students and adults navigating career and personal growth—has reinforced my belief in neurodiversity-affirming approaches. I’m passionate about helping people develop self-awareness, build confidence, and advocate for themselves in a world that isn’t always designed with neurodivergence in mind.Over the years, I’ve seen firsthand how the right support can empower individuals to embrace their unique ways of thinking, learning, and engaging with the world. That’s what continues to drive my work every day.

How do you bring a strengths-based, affirming approach to your client work?

My approach is rooted in the belief that every neurodivergent individual has inherent strengths that deserve to be recognized, celebrated, and cultivated. I help clients identify what makes them unique—their problem-solving abilities, creativity, deep interests, and resilience—and support them in leveraging those strengths to navigate the world with confidence.I strive to create a space where clients feel truly seen and valued for who they are. Through affirming and collaborative work, I help individuals develop self-awareness, embrace their abilities, and build the self-advocacy skills needed to thrive. My goal is to empower each person to step fully into their potential, not by changing who they are, but by recognizing the strengths they already possess and finding ways to use them effectively.
