Intro

Hey there, I’m Dr. Emily Sierra! I am a licensed psychologist in the state of Florida with a doctoral degree from Albizu University and residency training at Coalinga State Hospital. My clinical experience encompasses working with individuals across the lifespan, specializing in diagnostic assessments, consultation, and therapeutic interventions. With a strong background in supporting individuals with developmental and cognitive challenges, I am dedicated to providing comprehensive care tailored to each person’s unique needs. At Prosper Health, I aim to utilize my expertise to empower and support the neurodivergent community, fostering growth, understanding, and well-being.

What motivated you to specialize in working with autistic adults?

From early in my training, I was drawn to working with individuals who experience the world differently. My clinical experiences exposed me to the unique strengths and challenges of neurodivergent individuals, particularly those with developmental and cognitive differences. I saw firsthand how traditional mental health approaches often fail to accommodate their needs, which motivated me to specialize in providing tailored assessments, consultation, and interventions. I am passionate about fostering a deeper understanding of neurodivergence, advocating for strengths-based approaches, and helping individuals navigate a world that isn’t always designed with them in mind. At Prosper Health, I strive to create a supportive and validating space where neurodivergent individuals feel seen, understood, and empowered to thrive.

How do you bring a strengths-based, affirming approach to your client work?

In my work, I emphasize an affirming and strength-based approach by recognizing and valuing the unique abilities, perspectives, and experiences of neurodivergent individuals. Rather than focusing solely on challenges or deficits, I help clients and their families identify and build upon their inherent strengths. My approach is collaborative and person-centered, ensuring that interventions are tailored to each individual’s needs, preferences, and goals. I integrate evidence-based strategies while honoring neurodivergent ways of thinking, learning, and communicating. Most Importantly, I strive to create a validating and supportive environment where clients feel understood, empowered, and equipped to navigate their world with confidence.
