Intro

Hello and welcome! I am happy you have found your way here on your path to self-discovery and reflection! My name is Kandi Stull. I currently live in and hold licensure in Texas, although I am a transplant and have also lived in both Ohio and Florida. As an assessment psychologist, I am driven in understanding the whole person and each individual's unique lived experiences across the lifespan, drawing connections between history and present, and promoting self-discovery that can lead to greater understanding and guidance towards improved well-being. My goal is to make you feel valued, heard, and understood through the process and not as though you are just another "diagnostic label."

What motivated you to specialize in working with autistic adults?

Psychological assessment, and particularly assessment related to Autism Spectrum Disorder, has not always been my career path; instead, the path chose me! I have former education and experience in corporate marketing and product promotion, and I found in every setting that people were always searching for something - and the realization became that they were searching to be seen and known. From there, I pivoted and began a path towards mental health counseling; in my practicum and internship, I found myself exposed to assessment, and during that time, my career path became focused. Through assessment, and particular by working with neurodivergent clients, my goal to help others feel seen and known came to light. Working in this field permits me to help individuals better understand themselves and their lived experiences, attain validation, and gain support to live a life in which they feel supported and empowered rather than isolated and defeated.

How do you bring a strengths-based, affirming approach to your client work?

A common phrase for me is that Autism is not a disorder but merely a difference. This change of one single word switches the tone from one that is reducing to one that is appreciating and affirming. I believe that each person possesses a unique set of abilities that can be embraced and utilized to live a full and flourishing life. Therefore, during the process, the focus of assessment and sessions together is not calling attention to differences that minimize but instead understanding how such differences can be maximized an authentic life is lived.
