Intro

Hello and welcome! My name is Dr. Matt Hagler, and I am a licensed clinical psychologist in South Carolina. I am certified to work with clients located in 42+ states via PSYPACT. I am thrilled to provide autism evaluation services with Prosper Health! I bring extensive experience in clinical and psychodiagnostic assessment, having received specialized training at Harvard and Yale Medical Schools. When conducting psychological evaluations, I use a therapeutic approach to cultivate a warm, validating space. Following your evaluation, I will provide you with straightforward, supportive feedback and recommendations. I am affirming of neurodiversity, gender and sexual diversity, and other areas of difference.

What motivated you to specialize in working with autistic adults?

I deeply value and respect the diversity of human experience. I believe that neurodiverse folks offer unique strengths and perspectives to the world. At the same time, I recognize that society has been built in a way that advantages those considered to be neurotypical, and that this poses a challenge for people whose brains work differently. As an assessment psychologist, my goal is to help you learn about yourself, if a diagnosis fits your experience, what a diagnosis means (and doesn't mean!), and which resources and supports will help you thrive.

How do you bring a strengths-based, affirming approach to your client work?

I view diagnosis is a tool to help people understand their experiences, find community, and access services. I empower my clients to construct their own identities and decide how a diagnosis fits in. I highlight and amplify clients' unique strengths and individuality while also forging connection through a shared sense of humanity. Finally, I feel an immense sense of gratitude for being a part of people's journeys - and I never lose sight of what a privilege it is to do this work.
