Our “No Surprise Billing” Guarantee
You'll always know exactly what you'll pay before any appointment at Prosper Health. We start by providing your initial pricing estimate when you sign up.
Pricing can sometimes update after the initial estimate, and we will notify you right away if there is a change.
We will always give you at least 48 hours of notice about any changes in cost before an appointment.
For multi-session assessments: your out-of-pocket cost for the full assessment is locked 48 hours before the first appointment date, and billing will be split into three equal payments over each of the three appointments.
For therapy sessions: your out-of-pocket cost for each session is locked 48 hours before each appointment.
Payment is simple: we'll automatically charge your card on file within a few days of your appointment and email a receipt. To see what you were charged for any historical appointment, you can view your billing history through your Client Portal.
Common Questions
How will I be notified of the exact amount of my appointment?
The exact cost will be confirmed before each appointment in your 48 hour and 24 hour appointment confirmation emails. The cost can also be found in your Client Portal.
What happens if my estimated cost changes?
We'll notify you immediately if there are any price changes. If a price change occurs within 48 hours of your appointment, you'll only be charged the previously confirmed amount.
Why do insurance cost estimates change?
Sometimes we need to update our initial pricing estimate because certain insurance details can change or may not be immediately visible to us.
What happens if insurance denies a claim?
Don't worry! Our no-surprise billing policy means you won't be responsible for additional charges, even if insurance denies the claim.
Insurance sent me an explanation of benefits (EOB) that shows I owe more money. Do I need to pay this?
No. Your payment to Prosper Health is collected at the time of service. The amount shown on your EOB is for informational purposes only.
Insurance sent me an explanation of benefits (EOB) that shows I owe less money than I paid you. Can I get a refund?
Yes! While rare, this does happen on occasion. We will automatically process a refund to your card on file. You don't need to do anything — we process this automatically as part of our claim review cycle.
How is insurance billed?
After your appointment, we submit a claim to your insurance. Insurance will processes the claim and send you an explanation of benefits (EOB) stating what insurance company paid for your care and what portion they believe you are responsible for. You don't need to take any action when you receive an EOB for Prosper Health services.
What if I receive a cost increase notification in the late cancelation window?
You will not be charged cancelation fees if you cancel an appointment after receiving a cost increase notification in the late cancelation window.
Out-of-Pocket Cost Changes
Why did my cost estimate change?
Sometimes we need to update our initial pricing estimate because certain insurance details can change or may not be immediately visible to us. Here are the common reasons why your out-of-pocket cost might change:
Deductibles and Out-of-Pocket Max
Insurance plans may require you to pay a certain amount (your deductible) before coverage kicks in. While we check your deductible status when providing estimates, this status can change if you've received care elsewhere. Similarly, reaching your out-of-pocket maximum can lower your costs.
Annual Plan Resets
When your insurance plan resets (the most common time is at the start of a new year), your deductible typically resets too. This means you may need to meet your deductible again, which can affect your out-of-pocket costs.
Plan Changes
If you switch to a new insurance plan or your existing plan changes its benefits (such as different co-pays or deductibles), this will affect your out-of-pocket costs.
Complex Insurance Arrangements
Sometimes, certain insurance details only become clear after we process a claim with your insurer. For example, some insurance plans might have different coverage between umbrella and subsidiary plans, and we won’t know for sure until we hear back from the insurance company after your first appointment.
Remember: No Surprise Billing means we'll always notify you of your final out-of-pocket cost before your appointment.
