Intro
Hi, My name is Dr. Emma-Lorraine Bart-Plange and I am a clinical psychologist, licensed in Illinois and California, and living in Chicago. Additionally, I hold an active PsyPact license which allows me to see clients via Telehealth in 40+ additional states. I completed my PhD at Loyola University Chicago with a subspecialty in Child/Adolescent and Family and my fellowship at Children's Hospital Los Angeles, University Center for Excellence in Developmental and Related Disabilities (UCEDD), Project Heal/Trauma Area. Since my time in graduate school, I've developed expertise in treating and assessing trauma in children, adolescents, and young adults and am excited to use a trauma-informed perspective here at Prosper Health!
During my advanced therapy practicum focused on trauma, I had a number of patients who were neurodivergent and found that unfortunately, there were so few mental health professionals who both specialized in trauma and worked with neurodivergent clients. On top of that, I both come from and primarily worked in communities (immigrant, BIPOC) that were already underserved and saw that neurodivergent people coming from these communities were not being served adequately and were regularly overlooked. I hoped that by training in areas where these identities intersect, that I'd be able to make some small impact in these communities that are my home and where we already face such marginalization.
My goal in working with clients is for assessment to be a process of discovery and affirmation of the beautiful strengths that each person carries. It is important to meet clients where they are at, work collaboratively and the work I do with clients to feel hopeful and like a contribution to the journey of knowing oneself.
