Intro
Hi! My name is Dr. John Melton, and I am a licensed Clinical Psychologist with a PhD in Counseling Psychology from Loyola University of Chicago and a background as a Navy veteran. I completed my psychology internship at Pine Rest Psychological Consultation Center, where I worked with diverse clinical populations, including neurodiverse children and adults. My passion for neuropsychology and my military background provide me with a unique perspective in working with different types of adults struggling with many different issues. I joined Prosper Health to help expand accessible autism assessment services, particularly through telehealth, to ensure that individuals and families can receive accurate, supportive evaluations, no matter their location. I currently have a valid PsyPact license which allows me to provide services via Telehealth to clients in 40+ states.
Throughout my career, I’ve met many individuals who have struggled to understand their place in the world and faced significant barriers in accessing quality assessment and care. My experiences in both clinical training and the military deepened my commitment to helping people receive the support they need and deserve. I’m dedicated to using my experience across diverse settings to close the gaps in autism assessment and treatment, especially for those who continue to struggle and seek answers.
A strengths-based, affirming approach is at the core of my practice. From my military background, I understand resilience and adaptability, and I strive to highlight these qualities in my clients. In working with the autism community, I focus on each individual’s unique strengths and goals, providing an empathetic, supportive environment that respects neurodivergent experiences. My clinical experience, combined with my personal understanding of overcoming challenges, allows me to support my clients and their families in understanding autism through a lens of empowerment and acceptance.
