Intro
Hi, my name is Ricardo Guerrero and I am a mental health counselor, licensed in Texas. I have worked with many populations in the past, but find working with neurodivergent individuals to be the most rewarding. I hope to help clients at Prosper Health to identify their strengths and find purpose and meaning in their lives.
While pursuing my Master's degree, I had a client who was autistic that I helped over the course of several months. I was new to working with neurodivergent adults, but he helped me better understand this population. I found this experience to be incredibly rewarding and he deeply impacted my life. Not only did I help him develop skills, but he made me a better clinician and opened my eyes to new ways of viewing the world.
Working with an autistic client helped strengthen my ability to be patient, observant, and adaptive in my approach. It encouraged me to have a deeper understanding of non-verbal communication and tailor individualized interventions. I was also able to enhance my creativity in designing strategies to support specific needs and preferences. In general, working with neurodivergent individuals has sharpened my skills in fostering a trusting, supportive, and inclusive therapeutic environment.
