Intro

Hello! My name is Sheila, and I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (Illinois) with a passion for supporting individuals with autism. With years of experience in providing personalized, compassionate care, I am dedicated to helping my clients navigate their unique challenges and thrive in their personal and professional lives.

What motivated you to specialize in working with autistic adults?

My passion for working with autistic and neurodivergent clients stems from my personal experience as the mother of an adult son with severe autism. This has provided me with deep empathy, understanding, and a strong desire to support others navigating similar paths.  I have witnessed the challenges and triumphs firsthand, which has fueled my commitment to providing compassionate and effective support. My goal is to create a therapeutic environment where neurodivergent clients feel understood, valued, and empowered.

How do you bring a strengths-based, affirming approach to your client work?

My affirming and strengths-based approach is deeply influenced by my experiences with my son. Through supporting him, I've learned the importance of highlighting strengths and fostering a positive, affirming environment. I’ll bring this perspective to my work by actively listening to you, celebrating your skills and talents, and empowering you to focus on your strengths.
