Intro
Hi. I'm Dr. Steve and I am a licensed clinical social worker (Massachusetts) with an expertise in ASD, which is supported by my doctorate in Special Education. As a father of a young man with autism, I realized that I too must be somewhere on the spectrum. I hope to help others reach their potential as well-adjusted people in a neurotypical world.
I have been working with people with autism since 2002, when I was a teacher, but my journey started when I had my son with autism in 1998. I wanted to help families and individuals with ASD who often feel lost and who need more support, both practically and psychologically. I found a real affinity with higher-functioning people with ASD, since I realize that I'm somewhere in the spectrum, too. I love the Prosper provides a place for clients with ASD and for clinicians who wish to collaborate to better serve such people.
As a father of a son with autism, I am naturally committed to helping people on the spectrum live their lives to the fullest. I want my clients to embrace how they think differently, experience the world differently and for them to feel that they do not have to mask most of the time. I hope to help them navigate the world in ways that make them successful and happy. They may need to do things differently than neurotypical people, but those ways should be celebrated as they reveal their strengths.
